1. You've come back to the flute after a long break
Many of the academy students learnt the flute earlier in life, for example in school, and now want to pick it up and start playing again. This is wonderful! And you will fit in perfectly to the academy.
You'll learn many fundamental flute playing techniques that you, for some reason, never learnt properly, when you first learnt. You'll find your playing becomes instantly easier, and sound instantly better.
2. Or you started learning the flute as an adult
If you've been playing the flute for at least 6-12 months, and you know your notes, and you can play a few melodies and scales, then you're the right level to join The Flute Academy. You'll learn the proper techniques of playing that will stick with you for life and make playing a joy.
Who is the academy NOT for?
If you're a total beginner on the flute, and you're still learning how to make a sound, how to blow, and play your notes, spend some time continuing your learning for at least 6 months, and then we'd love to welcome you into The Flute Academy!
Note: If you're already proficient at another instrument (especially a wind instrument, like the clarinet or saxophone), you are very welcome to join us in the academy, as your expertise will give you a strong foundation into playing the flute!
