Behind the scenes on The Great Illustrated Book of Easy Flute Music

"So how long did it take to create your flute book?" is something I get asked all the time. The short answer is "6 months".  The slightly more extrapolated answer is that there was a whole lot of work and uncertainty in those 6 months that made me realise just how much work goes into publishing your own book!  There are 2 things that kept me going. Firstly, I KNEW it was possible to create a beautiful, glossy, attractive, illustrated, well written, musical, good quality, professional looking book. I just KNEW it. Secondly, having a business parter, Catherine, who does half of the leg work to get the book off the ground is priceless. And it's SO much more fun when you can talk about the progress of the book with someone who knows exactly what you're talking out! We had 3 separate illustrators contribute to the book, along with a book designer. Catherine and I both went through steep learning curves when it came to music typesetting, printing houses, website design and most of all, marketing our creation, both online and offline.  But here we are. It's been 12 months now since we began this journey and we have written a book! Yahoo! We do have many more projects in the pipeline, so keep an eye out for more colourful, high quality books of music from us.
