It's a time when you do use your tongue to end the note. It's for a very specific time when you're playing and if you are playing a single note or maybe a few single notes and you want absolute sharpness, like a whip cracking, it has a particular effect. So for example, it works up high particularly well. And it's very, very short and crisp.
